Suranne Jones

 Sarah Anne Akers (nee Jones) born on 27 August 1978 was an English actress from England. She is popularly referred to as Suranne Jones. Between 2000 and 2004, she was the main character of Coronation Street's Karen McDonald. After the show ended and returning to television, she continued her career in dramas like Vincent (2005-2006), Strictly Confidential (2006) and Harley Street (2008). Her popularity was recognized for her performance in the role of Ruth Slater, a convicted murderer, in the mini-series Unforgiven (2009). In the year 2016, Jones was a part of Scott & Bailey as Detective Rachel Bailey. This was her second time working with screenwriter Sally Wainwright. Jones was further praised for her performances in Single Father, Five Days (both 2010) as well as The Crimson Field (2014). She also appeared in stages in the form of A Few Good Men (2006), Blithe Spirit (2008), Top Girls (2011) and Beautiful Thing (2013). Jones was approached by Coronation Street bosses in 2000 to be considered for a role as a brand new character.
