Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) as well as Chris Watson (born in Paris). Her family was moved to Oxfordshire when she was five when she enrolled in her first Dragon School. Emma aged six at the time she decided to pursue a career as an actress. She trained for several years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a full-time school of theatre in Oxford where she was taught acting and singing. Emma was noticed by casting directors through Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone as well as Ron Weasley told Emma after the eight auditions that she'd been chosen for these roles. Emma was chosen to play alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's first film role was as a part of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It set new records for opening-day sales and opening-weekend takings and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. The film has been praised by critics for its film as well as the performance of the three principal young actors. The highly distributed British daily The Daily Telegraph called her performance admirable. Emma won the Young Artist Award as the leading young actress in the Feature Film. Later, she was nominated for five awards for her performance in the film.
